This when you and a single other soldier decide to be "buddies" and enable the feature by use ACE interaction on one another. Once you are buddies, the idea is you keep tabs on your buddy, and they do the same to you, so that you keep one another safe. At a bare minimum, once a firefight concludes, you should briefly survey the element and verify your buddy is up and has received care if needed.
